Master Mike Perish began training in Tae Kwon Do under Grand Master Spencer Brandt and Grand Master Cindy Brandt in 1995 at the Bemidji School of Tae Kwon Do. Through the course of diligent training I have achieved a 4th degree Black Belt Rank in Tae Kwon Do, a 3rd degree Black Belt Rank in Hapkido, and a 2nd degree Black Belt Rank in Kumdo / Kumbub.

I have been involved with teaching and assisting since I was a Blue Belt rank. I became the Owner / Head Instructor of the Thief River Falls Tae Kwon Do School in June of 2005. In 2007 Thief River Falls was humbled to receive an award as the most rapidly growing Brandt’s Association school.

I was given the opportunity to travel to South Korea four times under the direction of my Instructors and the International Black Belt Federation. During this intensive training the founder of the IBBF, Great Grand Master Yun (one of only two 10th degree TKD Black Belts in the world), provided us with an unforgettable training experience. During the course of these trips we experienced Korean culture, history, dance, and sport massage, not to mention the numerous self-defense techniques and exercise drills. It is truly amazing how Tae Kwon Do has spread to almost every country in the world, and how it is governed by the Kukkiwon in Seoul, South Korea.

I currently continue my training under Grand Master Cindy Brandt and Evergreen Total Martial Arts. My instruction comes under the direction of Great Grand Master Moo Young Yun and the United States Chang Moo Kwan Union.
